For me it was a dream come true, to finally find a work from home career, with a reputable company. No more worrying about getting up in the wee hours of the morning, no traveling to and fro, no fighting traffic, no transportation expenses and no more paying today's inflated daycare costs. The thing is, it takes discipline, dedication and the drive to be successful, to succeed in a telecommuting career.
Since most work from home jobs, require no direct supervision, it is very easy to say to yourself, "I'll start work today at 10AM instead of 9AM". This means, that you have just lost an hour, that could have been a productive one. This is why is it very important that you make a work schedule for yourself (if the company allows this) and stick to it! Of course, the flexibility is great, because you are able to plan personal appointments (Dr.'s appts, school meetings, etc.), around your work schedule. But, to lay in bed an extra hour or two and procrastinate about getting up to begin work, is not an appointment.
Sometimes "cabin fever" affects some telecommuters at one time or another, but successful individuals, who work from home know how to manage their time in order to balance these issues..
When you work for someone else, you are inside a building all day as well, but you also have a chance to interact with other co-workers. In this case, there are many telecommuting jobs, that allows you to work inside and outside your home office. So the flexibility is also there. For those of you, that do not like sitting at a desk all day, there are many options.
In essence, if you keep this in mind, a work from home career can be an exciting, rewarding experience and best of all the financial benefits are unlimited!
